Applying a Software Upgrade and Updating a Database to a Newer Version

PLEASE NOTE--VERY IMPORTANT--If you are operating in a server/client or peer-to-peer environment, the server or host machine MUST be upgraded first.

BEFORE STARTING AN UPGRADE, PLEASE NOTE: These instructions are for clients who have maintained regular updates. If following these instructions proves to be unsuccessful, please contact the Pontem Help Desk at 888-237-8531.

Attention Online Burial Search customers:  The Real Time Updates (RTU) Service program used to require a manual update process dependent on Pontem's Support staff. The CM Upgrades now looks for the RTU registry entry and will upgrade this RTU Service program along with the CM.exe if needed.  This only applies to customers with Online Burial Search V4 or higher.

UPDATING YOUR DATABASE FILE

  1. On the login window, change the Name to UPGRADE
  1. In the Password box, enter the same password used for the program upgrade, which was provided in the email notification letter you received about the available 4.5.5 upgrade
  2. Click the OK button
  3. A message will appear notifying you the database file must be updated from one revision number to another. Click Yes.
  4. The 'Optimize Database' window will appear.  (**This is required on any or all databases in your Pontem program.) Click Next to begin a backup of the database.
  5. Click Next to begin a restore of the database. Time required for this step can vary
  6. Click Finish.

NOTE: When the optimization process is complete the database will begin to update.

The data file will run through one or more "progress steps."  The time needed for the data file to update will vary.  However, the update will take longer for larger data files and for those which have not been updated regularly.

When the database file has been updated completely, the progress window will simply disappear.

  1. Close your program and re-open it to sign in.
